Daniel 5:23b – “…and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways….” (NKJV)

King Belshazzar was a wicked and evil king. In the midst of a vile party in which he used the golden cups from the temple of the living God to get drunk, God delivered His message of judgement. The very hand of God wrote Belshazzar’s doom on the wall. Eventually the prophet, Daniel, was called to interpret the message, which he did. And he used the opportunity to really lay into Belshazzar. Daniel said to him, “and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.”

Never mind Belshazzar! How personal is that?! The God who holds your breath in His hand. I am so incredibly grateful my God is near enough to me to hold my very breath in His hand! Wow! How can I not glorify Him!!!
